Wall-Ball Lat and Teres Major Release demonstration

How to do it

  1. Stand beside a wall and place a soft massage ball on the muscular side of the upper back, just below and behind the armpit.
  2. Lean lightly into the wall to hold the ball in place.
  3. Slowly reach that arm across your body or slightly overhead while maintaining tolerable pressure.
  4. Reposition the ball over nearby muscle as needed, then repeat on the other side.

Form cues

  • Keep the ball out of the centre and front of the armpit.
  • Avoid the ribs, shoulder joint and edge of the shoulder blade.
  • Use light pressure and stop for numbness, tingling or symptoms traveling down the arm.
