How to do it
- Stand beside a wall and place a soft massage ball on the muscular side of the upper back, just below and behind the armpit.
- Lean lightly into the wall to hold the ball in place.
- Slowly reach that arm across your body or slightly overhead while maintaining tolerable pressure.
- Reposition the ball over nearby muscle as needed, then repeat on the other side.
Form cues
- Keep the ball out of the centre and front of the armpit.
- Avoid the ribs, shoulder joint and edge of the shoulder blade.
- Use light pressure and stop for numbness, tingling or symptoms traveling down the arm.
