About Body & Balance Studio

Body & Balance Studio helps you see your standing posture from photos and gives you a clear, evidence-informed plan to improve it.

Our approach

Posture is a pattern, not a verdict. Our scanner measures alignment from four standing photos using an on-device pose model, then maps what it observes to corrective exercises drawn from established physiotherapy and posture texts. Everything runs in your browser β€” your photos never leave your device.

We frame this as wellness education, not medical diagnosis. For pain, injury, or any medical concern, please see a qualified clinician.

Our sources

Our deviation definitions, muscle maps, range-of-motion norms, and corrective logic are distilled from the clinical literature below.

  • Kendall et al. β€” Muscles: Testing & Function with Posture & Pain (5th ed.). The posture gold standard β€” ideal alignment, postural-fault types, tight/weak muscle maps.
  • Johnson β€” Postural Assessment. Region-by-region observation of posture from photos.
  • Johnson β€” Postural Correction. Corrective exercises and techniques for each deviation.
  • Page, Frank & Lardner β€” Assessment and Treatment of Muscle Imbalance: The Janda Approach. Janda's crossed-syndrome model, muscle imbalance, PIR stretching.
  • Reese & Bandy β€” Joint Range of Motion and Muscle Length Testing. Normal ROM values per joint and muscle-length tests.
  • Daniels & Worthingham β€” Muscle Testing: Techniques of Manual Examination. Manual muscle-testing and strength grading.
  • Magee β€” Orthopedic Physical Assessment (7th ed.). Comprehensive orthopedic assessment and special tests.
  • Horschig β€” The Squat Bible / Rebuilding Milo. Squat mechanics, movement screening, and common injuries.
  • Whittle β€” An Introduction to Gait Analysis. Temporal gait β€” reserved for the future gait module.
