Calf Massage demonstration

How to do it

  1. Sit down, place the ankle of the side being massaged on the knee of the opposite leg and grasp the belly of the calf with your hands.
  2. Massage across the muscle or up and down.
  3. Target knots or adhesions during the massage.

Form cues

  • Use this massage technique while you are sitting at home watching TV or at work.

Dosage

  • Massage 1 to 2 minutes at least once per day.
  • Progress: Use a massage device on the calf or perform the Calf Stretch.
  • Regress: Use a hard ball (such as a baseball or lacrosse ball) placed on a book with the calf muscle placed on top of the ball.
